VLC server is a software based solution...given Squeezebox Server on a Duo just gets by with transcoding aac audio files, I would of thought transcoding videos would be a bit out of the cpu's league...
I think they've gotten it working on some of those Popcorn hour NMT's - not 720p/1080p videos though...
