It should work fine. The NAS automatically detects the UPS.
If you are not sure and want to test things out power down the NAS. Connect the NAS power to the wall outlet, but the USB cable to the UPS.
Unplug the power to the UPS and see if the NAS gracefully shuts down before the UPS battery runs out or if it keeps running.

Clever! So I guess the UPS will not know that the NAS is actually powered by a separate wall outlet? It should just realize that it (the UPS) has no power, so should initiate the shutdown of whatever is connected by USB? That sounds like it could work. :)
