MacBook Yosimite backup to ReadyNAS 4.1.14 via Time Machine
Hi all, looking for some assistance in backing up my childs MacBook (running Yosimite OS) to my ReadyNAS Duo running raidiator 4.1.14.
I have enabled Time Machine on the ReadyNAS and rebooted the ReadyNAS, however the MacBook cannot see this in the TimeMachine program.
The NAS appears in Finder and can play songs from the NAS though the MacBook.
In Time Machne, I click Select Backup Disk, then the only option is Other Airport Time Capsule. So I click this and hit setup, which then the MacBook opens the Airport utility and says No configured Airport Base stations have been found, and appears to be searching.
Any help appreciated.
Found the solution! For anyone else that stumbles across this thread, add the NAS as a server to Finder. nielsNL instructions here worked perfectly:
- Open Finder, From the menu choose Go - Connect to Server. Type in afp://<readynas>/ReadyNAS (substitute <readynas> with your ReadyNAS IP address).
- Login using username ReadyNAS and the chosen password, I also added the password to the keychain.
- You should now be able to see the ReadyNAS volume in Time Machine.
