Management Service is Offline

Hi there - I have a Ready NAS 102.  Attempted a firmware update today, but after it said 'I'll install when you restart', there was nothing.

I ran RAIDar, 'Management service is offline' - so I can't get to the admin page.

Tried downloading the log files via RAIDar - 'Download failed'

Can't contact the unit via windows explorer - something to do with permissions.

I click on the Diagnose button - I get:

Successfully completed diagnostics
System

Logs

Everything blank.

I can still gain access using PuTTY.

Here are some services that aren't running, for whatever reasons:

Raidar looks like this:

The journal is full of stuff like this, which repeats again and again:

I tried restarting the NAS, warm and cold start, no difference.

I booted in OS Install mode, in the hope a reinstall of the software would help - to no avail.

Running out of ideas and would be grateful for any help/advice offered.

Thanks in advance

Cheers

Sledge

  • I resolved Sledge1964's issue.

Something strange happened and reset config files to blank files, so I restored default copies of those config files and restored connectivity.

    Hello Sledge1964,

When exactly did you get the message 'I'll install when you restart"? Is that after clicking the prompt to update? Or you did the manual update and uploaded the firmware?

The links for the pictures do not work too. Please insert image of what the RAIDar shows instead.

    Regards,

That's odd - the links work for me..

I downloaded the update and installed it via the system settings menu - I did that because the auto update screwed my NAS up last time around too - I was happy I'd just got it going again, and then this happens...

So I said Update, pointed it to the correct file, it uploaded it from my PC and did its thing, then said it needs to restart.

Those are the fails and errors I can see.  Raidar looks like this:

Thats what the journal looks like - repeats and repeats etc

      Hope that can help you...

Thanks in advance - much appreciated.
