Migrating Disks from NV+ to NVX
Hello Folks, I'm new here ... I have / had an old NV+ NAS with four 1TB drives. I hadn't used it for years and when I got it going again the other day, all was well for a few hours, backing up my...

As you found, that doesn't work. The NVX uses 4.2.x firmware and the NV+ uses 4.1.x The disks are formatted differently.
It is possible to mount the NV+ disks in a standard linux system. You can also use RAID recovery software - for instance, R-Studio for Macs. That requires a way to move the disks. Though since these are small, you could just image them to a single larger drive.
You could also do a factory reset and start over. You can't migrate the TM backups, but of course you would be giving up on the other files on the volume.
Note that while most 4.2.x systems can be migrated to the newer OS-6, the NVX is not one of them. OS-6 requires a 64 bit architecture, and the NVX is only 32 bit.

Thanks for the info ... I will indeed do a factory refresh once I've recovered the data from the disks. The disks must be 15 years old at least ... maybe it's time to get some new ones.
