The power supply from the NVX can be moved to the NV+ if you are sure it's just the supply that's at fault. But if something else took the supply out, you could end up killing the NVX supply.

Excellent suggestion (why didn't I think of that?!) Then I can recover the data from the old disks before setting up the NVX afresh and disposing of the NV+ (does it have any value?) Cheers!

The trays do, though the ones with the round buttons aren't as good as the newer ones with the square buttons. They can be used in any desktop ReadyNAS.
Selling the trays separately (with the screws) would give the most return. It could take a while to sell them though, since the NAS they fit are at least 13 years old.
