SOLVED!!
Thank you so much vandermerwe and StephenB for your support - although I had changed my windows logon/pw, I hadn't updated any windows credentials for the NAS IP address ( \\192.xxx.x.x ). As suggested, I went into Control Panel > User Accounts > Manage your credentials , and then "Add a Windows Credential" where I pasted my NAS IP address in the "Internet or Network Address" and the old NAS user and p/w in the other two fields.
After this, when I Browsed through RAID the 'lost' folder appeared, complete with 100GB of data. "Happy" doesn't begin to cover it!! So vandermerwe - I will purchase a 2nd drive and set up a regular backup, although I will need guidance/instructions. I doubt there is space in the cloud for my 100GB (without significant payment) so are the instructions the same for all NAS drives, and do you think I will find them under Forums > Backup > Frontview Backup?
