The video files certainly play on their own in VLC.
Windows Media Player's "play to" feature does real-time transcoding as needed, and it would be useful to know if that is happening.
chopin70 - it would also be useful to know more precisely how they "don't play".
(a) do they show up on the TV menu?
(b) if so, are you getting an error message when you try to play them?
(c) Are you seeing/hearing anything on the TV when you play them?
If you can, perhaps also try playing one of the files directly on the TV using the TV's usb connection (or SD card if it has one).
