So if the TV doesn't support the audio and video codecs natively, then you can't play them. If you can track down the datasheet for your specific TV, perhaps check to see if it claims DIVX 5 support. Though in my experience those format lists are often incomplete - it might support divx 5 in .divx files, but not in .avi files for instance. That last point is quite informative.

- The file streams perfectly when done from VLC or Windows Media Player to the Panasonic TV
- The file doesn't stream from the Netgear to the TV: "file format not supported"
- From an USB key plugged into the TV and played directly, it doesn't play either in fact: "file format not supported"
-You can try installing plex on the ultra. Plex is a dlna server that will transcode. The ultra is apparently somewhat below the spec'd platform for plex - but your content is only SD video, so it might be able to handle it.
-Or we can talk off-line about batch converting your divx 5 to something else.
-There is a third option btw - which is get a media player that can play all your media, and use that instead (or in addition) to the TV. You can get players that can handle most formats for ~$100 or less. It is one more gadget though, and yet-another-remote-control (YARC).
Thank you a lot
1- About my TV specs:
Media Player Formats: AVCHD 3D/Progressive,SD-VIDEO/AVI/MKV/WMV/MP4/M4v/FLV/3GPP/VRO/VOB/TS/PS, MP3/AAC/WMA Pro/FLAC/WAV, JPEG/MPO
I see no divx here, neither xvid!
In fact, TV won't play any divx and I read that some Panasonic TV need to register the divx codec. However, I have no such menu in TV!
2- About Plex
--edit--
Seems my Ultra 2 is below specs and won't transcode

3- As a last solution, I'd be happy to transcode without too much loss in quality and to something that will play on my TV and the NAS
H264 is listed to be fine in the data sheets
