Moving 7tb data from readynas ultra 6 plus to readynas 516

Hi, just a quick question.

How long will it take me to move approx 7 TB of data from my old readynas ultra 6 plus and what's the best way I can accomplish this task?

My setup is as following

Redaynas ultra 6 plus with 6 x 2tb samsung drives -approx 7 TB data of data needs to be moved to my new 516 with 3 x 4 TB disks.

Thanks in advance.

Frontview Backup jobs over gigabit ethernet are the fastest way to do this. NFS backup should give you ~200 GB/hour maybe more. Performance depends in part of the number of files/average file size.

    My suggestions
    (a) back up share by share, letting each share complete before you do the next.
    (b) Turn off antivirus and snapshots on the 516 during the transfer
    (c) Create the backup job on the RN516 for NFS. Run it, then change the protocol to rsync. Then re-run it.
    (d) Check file owner/group afterwards, as you might need to reset them.

BTW, IMO you need another disk on the RN516 side. You are starting off with at least 87% full. Keep in mind that ultra is reporting space in TiB, so "7 TB" is really 7.7 TB in power-of-10 units. That would be essentially 100% full.
