NAS-printer and Mac OS X 10.10 Yousemite
Hi
I have used ReadyNAS Duo v1 (lastest firmware) as interface to for my old HP Laserjet 4M
(through a parallell to USB converter) for a few years and still works for OS X Mountain Lion and Mavericks.
Now I have tested it with Yousemite and it does not work.
Error message is: Printing - Unable to get printer status.
I suspect that the problem is related to interaction with the NAS more than with the printer.
The trick that was advised on this forum a few years back with adding the printer as Windows printer
does not work with Yousemite as far as I can see.
I also understand that Apple has increased the security levels around printing in Yousemite
and something here might be the problem.

- NhellieVirtuosoYou probably need to re-set the printers back.
System Preference -> Printers & Scanners
delete the known printers and try setting them back up again.
or
reset the printing system, metioned on apple's website.

I have done the basic trouble-shooting you suggested.
Actually I had help from Apple support (at mainly first level) for about an hour with little success. Problem is that the person at support does not understand the kind of solution already discussed at this form a few years ago, see link in my first post, that was needed when you upgraded from Snow Leopard to Lion.
I suspect the solution should be of similar kind also now but I cannot figure out the details and likely several people on this forum already manage the problem with Yousemite.
I try a work-around and install "my other mac as printer", i.e. from this other Mac running Montain Lion printing works well through the NAS. When I try to print through this machine I get stuck with the following error message:
Job held on server
Paused on server - Authentication required.
I then go to the Keychain Access module and locate the item and try to edit it.
Name: HP_laserjet_4M @ wifes Mac mini / seems ok
Kind: network password / somewhat puzzled - is it NAS-password needed?
Account: admin / somewhat puzzled - I have admin account on NAS and also Mac mini as well as on the MBP I try to print from so which account are we talking about? my guess is it is NAS admin
I have actually tried passwords for all three different admin and no one works.
Still after all this should be "network password" and what is that?
Something new for Yousemite?
Appreciate further suggestions for troubleshooting!
