NAS RN102 wakes up every month
After update to version 6.8.0. my NAS starts every month by it self.
In log it looks like:
Wed Dec 6 2017 6:00:06 System: ReadyNASOS background service started. Mon Nov 6 2017 4:38:16 System: ReadyNASOS background service started. Thu Oct 5 2017 22:26:38 System: ReadyNASOS background service started.
I did not use the device last 3 months at all, did not install any apps, did not setup any jobs, did not change anything in settings. Also NAS is not connected to the Internet.
I just want to know how to disable this new "feature" and keep device switched off without unplugging power cable?
Thank you!

Hi DeadNAS,
I understand that the NAS starts by itself every month. The Wake On LAN might be enabled on the NAS. You may try disabling it by going System > Settings > Power.

Hello John,
Yes, Wake on Lan is enabled, but before version 6.8.0 it was not a problem.
Is it possible to preserve WoL feature without having monthly autostart problem? Because for me it seems like a software bug...
Thank you!

Perhaps try setting a schedule for turning the NAS off and on and then disable that again.

I have the same problem sin years... I do need WoL to be enabled, but do not want to have the NAS waking-up by itself each month.
I did a full reset, created then destroying power-on/power-off jobs, but nothing fixed the issue.
Any patch available?
- yxueNETGEAR ExpertHi, tytou, Which version are you using? 6.8.0?

Hi, I have version 6.9.3, but the issue is here since years... so on a lot of previous versions. Each update, I hope the pb is solve, but it has never hepened :(
The day/time may vary a bit since several years. At the very begining it was around 30th each month, then 21st, and now 14th.
Thx
- yxueNETGEAR ExpertHave you ever enabled Power Timer?

Hello,
because I had this issue, I have setup power-up/off schedule and deactivated it after because this was a proposed workaround, but before the issue happened, I have never used this feature. This is disabled since years now.
I use the NAS as most of the time powered off, and power it on 'on demand'. I usually use WoL for that because I can do it w/o using the physical buttton, and because from time to time I need to use it when away from home.
But, I'd prefer the NAS not to power on itself regularly.
I went to my email, because I receive an email from the NAS each time it has an administrative event (f/w update available, power(-off etc...).
Unfortunately I didn't keep all the emails, but from theones I still have I can tell you that the NAS is powering on alone
in 2017: 03/30,04/26,05/26,06/26,07/15,08/17,09/30,...,11/04,12/08
in 2018: 01/08,02/10,03/14,04/14...
in the past (2016 it was each month on the 29th at 22:00 local time
Cheers,
