"latest" is not a very informing answer. It'd be more helpful if you stated the version.
In any event, a factory reset should be sufficient. If you actually want more than that, then the simplest thing to do is connect the disks to a windows system and zero them using vendor tools (seatools for seagate, lifeguard for western digital).
