Need help recovering ReadyNAS Ultra6 (RNDU6000)
I attempted to upgrade my Ultra6 to OS6 and bricked it in the process. After several hours of "updating FW" in the display, I power cycled it. Now when I power it up again it displays the ReadyNAS l...

(sorry, I am not sure how to include your comment in my response without copy and paste. When I hit reply to your comment it doesn't show your comment)
Are you saying the instructions on pages 28-29 fail?
I suggest trying the (similar) instruction for tech support mode, and see if that works. If it does, that would a one avenue for offloading data.
Yes. The boot menu never shows up. So, I can't get to tech support mode or any other mode. It just boots normally. I've held the paperclip on that switch for a variety of time durations and simply can't get it to start any boot menu.
Were you also trying to convert the NAS to run OS-6?
No. I was just trying to login in and then started OS reinstall process with 4.3.2 with the USB key. No luck.

There is a quote icon in the tool bar that copies the entire quote. But it might not show up for new posters. Editing the quote to create a snippet often requires switching to html, so most posters here don't take the time.

It's possible that the switch has failed - which is unfortunate, as it limits your options for recovery. Was SSH ever enabled on the NAS? (I'm guessing not).
If the boot menu doesn't work, then your options are
- try to find a repair shop that is willing to replace the reset switch. Then attempt the data recovery.
- replace the NAS - disks can be migrated to another Ultra 6 or Pro 6. Then attempt data recovery.
- find a data recovery service, and send them the disks
- get enough USB enclosure(s) to allow you to connect the drives to a PC, and then use RAID recovery software. R-Studio would work https://www.r-studio.com/Buy-Data-Recovery-Software.html
