Netgear ReadyNAS 4220 - Error volume is degraded - HELP

I can’t find the disk or bad sectors on a disk to point in what must be replaced. I need someone’s help as this has been degraded for a bit without me really noticing and again I have been through these logs up down and backwards and can’t find it. All disks LEDs are green.

We are running a 12-SATA 4TB disk 2U unit with Raid 6. I have tried a “Scrub and a Balance” with no success telling me its something much bigger.

  • Disk 12 stopped responding, which caused the array to go degraded.  More recent firmware versions would have done a better job of informing you which disk had the issue -- the firmware version you're running is approaching 2 years old now.

It may just be a temporary glitch with that disk.  I'd suggest updating the firmware to the latest version (6.8.1 currently, with 6.9.0 coming soon).  It will probably start resyncing the array automatically, and if there are errors detected during that process it will notify you.

I did the update to (6.8.1) and you were correct once the resync completed the volume reported healthy again.

Thank you for your help that one had me pulling my hair out casue I knew the drives were good. If i get any more unstableness i iwll replace the drives immediately
