NetGear ReadyNAs 4220 Snapshot
Hello, I have Ready NAS storage 4220, I made volume consists of 5 disks (5*4TB) with RAID 5 and I made ISCSI Lun with size (13.48 TB) , the free space is (1.05TB) after three snapshots , I received email from the storage that the volume usage is above 95 % and therefore i delete all snapshots manually to resolve that alarm. So, If I want to use data protection option (snapshot) , is there any space consideration for snapshot, and what is the space required for each snapshot for the previous lun (13.48TB) Thanks.
When you first make a snapshot it uses no space. Every time a block changes in the LUN, the snapshot space goes up by a block. So the required snapshot space depends on the usage pattern.
With BTRFS it's good to maintain about 15% free space, and that's what you started with (with no snapshots). So maybe add another 4 TB drive to the array?

Is there any formula to collect the required space for snapshot depending on the LUN size ???
