The answer depends on what NAS you have. What ReadyNAS model, and what firwmare is it running?
But as a general statement, RAID is not enough to keep your data safe. So you need a backup plan that saves the files to at least one other device. My own practice is to make sure I have three copies of everything that matters - the primary copy and two backups.
You should also consider disaster recovery (what would happen if flood, fire, theft, ransomware, or other bad event destroyed all the data in your location).
