Hi Stephen
The NAS is definitely a v2 and is running the latest firmware.
In regards to the blinking, on boot the power light comes on and then the activity light constantly blinks. No other lights blink.
Can I use a SATA to USB to connect the hard drive to my Windows laptop.

But based on the info you provided, I think it's likely that the NAS is ok, and the disk failed.
If you have a spare disk (with no useful data on it), you could try inserting it into the NAS, and see if it is detected or not.
