I don’t know the exact firmware version but it was the latest and most up to date for an old ReadyNAS NV+.
Is there a way I can check this given the current situation?

RAIDar should tell you.
I am trying to make sure we have the correct model.
The original NV+ (called v1 here)
- says "ReadyNAS NV+" on the front panel
- runs 4.1.x firmware.
The NV+ v2
- says "ReadyNAS NV+ v2" on the front panel
- runs 5.3.x firmware.
It will be harder to recover data from the 2x2TB RAID-0 volume.
