New Laptop: how to be ADMIN on Nas104
Home office PC is Win7 user Jim is an admin on RN10400 [software is current] RN10400 is working just fine ... and i have full ADMIN rights on the RN10400. My ACCOUNT-USER on the RN10400 is Jim I ...

You 2nd point is a bit confusing: when I login to the RN104 > accounts > New User the first box is NAME
That is the box that will not allow Jim Holstein ... error msg = name must be unique and not the name of a share on the NAS
neither is true ... so it must not like the {space} ... that is all I can figure out
@StephenB: Thanks for the tip using credentials manager (in the control panel). It is new to me.
WHICH TYPE of credential should I add? You didn't say.
Windows Credential only allows 1 to exist - - so that can't be it
Certificate-based credential ??
Generic Credential ??
I'm going to guess GENERIC however please provide an example of what you mean by your 2nd point.
ie: I only access the NAS with \\storage [however its static IP is 192.168.1.10 if that helps with your examples]
the Win7 PC is 192.168.1.103
the Win8.1 laptop is 192.168.1.67
