no automatic mount of USB 3TB external drive
Hey all,
I have a 3TB Seagate USB drive (PN: 1DXAP3-500) I want to use to backup my RN104 (on 6.2.0).
It is formatted to NTFS, and was just checked with Windows and has no problems.
When I plug it in, nothing shows up.
I ssh into the machine, fdisk sees it.
So I try to manually mount it with the options I copied from mounting a different NTFS drive that does automount:
And it works fine.
But why doesn't the system automatically mount it?
Is it because of the other partitions on the drive?
Are there any issues with using the drive in this manually operated manner? Even after the manual mount, nothing shows up on the admin page.

This doesn't look like a partition table
Probably you selected the wrong device.

Partition table entries are not in disk order
So I try to manually mount it with the options I copied from mounting a different NTFS drive that does automount:
mount -t ufsd /dev/sde /root/usbdrive -o rw,noatime,nodiratime,nls=utf8,fmask=0,dmask=0
And it works fine.

Manual mounting would not be recommended for general use. If you run into issues with using manual mounting that it's not something we could support.
