NV+ and WD20EARS-00S8B1
Need some advice. NV+ unit configured in RAID 5 Setting (NOT x-RAID)
4 : WDC WD20EARS-00S8B1 drives. One failed after many years and replaced with same model.
Drive showing up as DEAD no SMART info. Followed similar posts with no success.
Reflashed firmware (4.1.13 SPARC) restart, same result.
Tried setting jumper pins 5&6 to force to SATA I, Restart. No success.
Any suggestions?
Replacing all : WDC WD20EARS-00S8B1 drives not an option. They are all on compatibility list.
If they are truly that bad, than why are they on the list.
Yes there are backups of the NAS.
Thanks in Advance

- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserPersonally I'd exchange the new drive for a WDC Red (and run the WDC tool to reset the head parking threshold). There is no need to make all the drives the same.
You could also run the WDC Lifeguard program on a PC and test the new drive. - superfabeAspirantThanks I will give that a try this weekend.
