NV+ V2 CLoud Backup
Hi,
I'm overly puzzled by offsite backup and assumed it would be an easy task, but it appears perhaps not.
I would like to be able to have my NV+ V2 run a backup which moves files offsite to online space. I'm aware of Netgear Vault but that seems a bit pricey.
Is there a way to have the dashboard backup to FTP space? or something similar.
I've been also looking into dropbox, but this doesn't appear available to run on the NV+ V2 due to the chip.
I'm not familiar with the "Remote: RSYNC Server" option in the backup and whether this is something that can be subscribed to as an online service?
Thanks for your guidance.

- SkywarpTutorrsync could be setup and gotten as online space, but you don't get revisions by default, and might be a bit hard to setup if you've never worked with linux/rsync.
I'd say have a look at Vault or Replicate (if you can put another NAS somewhere else).
I've also seen another cloud backup thing on the Genie+ Marketplace, no idea how good it is though. - readynasdu0AspirantThe fact I have a Duo V1 which can have backup connections over FTP and a NV+V2 which can't - is it a feasible thought to maintain the Duo V1 offsite and simply use the backup FTP option of the Duo V1 to connect to the NV+V2 once a night and perform an FTP backup? am I right in thinking it would simply do one full backup, then backup the difference?
Or do I need to get involved with Rsync to have this kind of functionality? - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserThe FTP backup is forced to full in the x86 line, I suspect that was also done in the v1 line. The reason is that the incremental backup wasn't really incremental - it failed if a file became longer.
ewok wrote: Warning: the reason this was taken out is because this behavior is actually pseudo-incremental and can have nasty side effects. Incremental backup was a side effect of having upload resumes enabled. With upload resumes enabled, the backup manager will try to resume uploading a file if a file of the same name on the destination side was smaller than that of the file on the source side, regardless of whether the rest of the file matches or not.
There is a patch available for the x86 that restores the pseudo-incremental behavior, but AFAIK it is not available on the v1.
