NV+ v2 permanently busy with ??????

As a test, I moved all the disks from the problematical NAS (NAS1) to an identical NAS (NAS2). The problem went ALONG with the disks. Is it safe to deduct that it is not the physical NAS with a problem but rather something on the disks causing the issue?
Seriously, install SSH. Otherwise you're just shooting in the dark. The web interface is woefully inadequate when things don't work as expected.
OK so I went to: http://www.readynas.com/?p=4203 and downloaded the ARM version
I installed it through the add-on menu item on the web-interface.
I then get the following message: The add-on was partially installed. To complete the installation, you must restart your system. Would you like to restart now.
I restarted
I go to check add-ons and this new installed add-on is nowhere to be seen.
I have done this procedure on both the problematical NAS and another identical NAS with the same response.
Am I doing something wrong?
