NV+ v2: SMB or NFS
I've been having a go at the SMB comined with Windows 7 & 8 lately. Now due to stupidity, I removed some crucial folders which I am trying to recover as we speak. The odds are looking not so good. So...
Certainly NFS is faster if the client machine is running linux. With a windows client I am not sure which is faster. You can easily enough enable NFS on a share and test it.
