The firmware is auto updated when a factory reset is done only on the Duo/NV+ v2. It is not updated if there is a poor internet connection that drops out more than three times during the download, or if the NAS isn't connected to the internet when the factory default is performed.

I'm pretty sure when I bought the unit which was running on 5.3.6 firmware, after initial sync I had the full 2.70TB free. What's happened to the extra 50GB. Windows 7 even shows a small blue bar showing the used space which is why i noticed it. Is this normal? As mentioned, I'm 99% certain i didn't lose 50GB when I originally set up the NAS out the box.
Have you put any data on the NAS yet that might account for some/all of that 50GB?
