OS Reinstall issues
hello.
I tried to reinstall the OS because I lost the password for the RN314 model, but I noticed that it was stuck for a long time, so I wrote this post to ask for help.
1. Confirm lost password
2. After shutting down the NAS, press the reset button when booting to enter the ‘Boot Menu’
3. Select ‘OS Reinstall’ and press the reset button to run it.
4. Only ‘Booting... Checking root FS’ on the front LED and ‘File System Checking...’ on the RAIDar remain on for more than 2 hours.
I checked existing posts in the community regarding this matter, but found that under normal circumstances, it would be completed within a few minutes.
1. What is the reason for stopping for several hours in this situation?
2. So what steps can we take?
3. If it takes a long time because of the file system check, is it okay to unmount the disk and try? (As long as it doesn't delete data on the disk.)
4. I looked into it and found a recovery method using USB. If I use this, will the internal data be initialized?

Try powering down the NAS and then test the disks in a Windows PC with vendor tools (Seatools for Seagate, Dashboard for Western Digital). Label the disks as you remove them. You can connect the disks to the PC using either SATA or a USB/SATA adapter or dock.

If I read your question correctly, you are asking if you can remove the drives and do the OS re-install. That would accomplish nothing since what an OS re-install does is re-install the OS on the drives.
But removing the drives and seeing if the NAS does boot (normally) and indicates "No drives" is the first step to see if you have a NAS issue or a drive one.
