You took the third and fourth drives out and left the first two? If you have a RAID array that includes all of those and you powered up in that condition, you may have just lost all of your data. If you needed to know which drive was bad, you should have tested each one outside the NAS with manufacturer's tools before powering on with just the good three.
Even if you lost the data volume, you should be able to get the logs, though.

Actually, I set up two separate mirrored arrays.
2 x 1TB drives mirrored
2 x 500GB drives mirrored
I'm still stuck wondering if this is a hardware issues as my passwords are not being accepted.
And, I know Netgear charge fees, but if I had access, I could at least determine whether it was worth paying for...
