Yes, I guess it is quite possible.
Netatalk is what is used to give AFP functionality on the ReadyNas. Snow Leopard made some changes that affected backwards compatibility with devices using older versions of AFP. The latest Netatalk brings improved AFP compatibility (I think), so it should work much better.
