Please help with Default RN 104 Raid 5 Parameters
Hi All,
I was hoping someone on this form might be able to help answer a few questions.
I have a ReadyNas RN10400 that I installed 4 x 1TB Seagate Hard drives into.
When I set it up I used Raid 5 and just kept everything at defaults.
One of the Hard drives Failed and the raid went into degraded mode. Then another Hard drive said degraded.
I pulled out the 2 degraded hard drives and numbered what order they were. When I used a USB caddy to inspect the hard drives I discovered one was complete gone with multiple bad sectors. The other seems fine.
So in order to get my photos off which is my most important data I am looking at trying some Raid Recovery tools such as ReclaiMe, Get Data Back, ZAR or UFS Explorer.
In order to use these programs I will need to know The Raid 5 default settings such as;
Raid = Raid 5
Parity Rotation = ? Is it left-symmetric?
Raid Block / stripe size = ? I have no clue is it 64k or 128k or something else?
Pairty delay = ?
If any could answer these questions I would greatly appreciate it. :D
Thanks,
Chris

- cpgarvinAspirantAlso if I could know what the default filesystem format is? Ext2-Ext4 ??
- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredBTRFS is the filesystem. It is on top of md RAID.
Have you tried opening a support case? - cpgarvinAspirantHi Mdgm,
I rang netgear support and since it's out of the warranty they weren't able to help me.
So I thought I'd try these forms.
Do you happen to know the default settings for raid 5 such as block / stripe size etc?
Thanks
Chris - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredSince it is over 90 days since purchase you should open an online case not call.
