Plex for RAIDiator 4.2.30
Hello
Happy with my NAS since 2010... i want to add a media server to stream music and video...
I want to try plex, and understant that's an old version is available (https://community.netgear.com/t5/Community-Add-ons/Plex-Media-Server-0-9-5-3/td-p/787995)
But the message on this page advise to search for a newer version... "To get Plex, please go to http://plexapp.com/getplex/ click NAS Appliances and download the Intel 4.x release."
Unfortunately, this link is redirected to the actual plex site where "plex for intel4.x" release is now not listed...
So, two questions...
- is there a risk to install the oldest version of plex, compatbile with my RAIDiator 4.2.30...?
- is it possible to upgrade my NAS to a newest OS6...??? (perhaps it's stupid question... ;-o) i apologize !)
thanks for anyhelp

Plex stopped supporting RAIDiator-x86 a long time ago now.
You can put OS6 on your NAS but doing so is unsupported by NETGEAR and requires a factory default (wipes all data, settings, everything) so your data first.
With OS6 on your legacy x86 ReadyNAS you can run the latest Intel 6.x version of Plex.
Do note however that the Ultra 4 has the least powerful CPU of any ReadyNAS that can run OS6.

OK, thanks
my ReadyNAS works perfectly without any trouble... I'll put my mediacenter elsewhere...

Let me know if you still want to try an older Plex version with your Ultra4. The latest pre 1.0 version was 9.17.3 but it was not that stable so I used 9.16.6 with no issues until upgrading to OS6 on my Ultra4 Plus and then ultimately replacing my Ultra4+ with a 626X. That said, you may only be able to stream DVD quality from the Ultra depending on the file format you use. You may have to 'optimize' all your files if you have a lot of 1080P quality.
FYI, if you have the time here is the link saying why they stopped supporting the older NAS: https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/222704/where-can-i-download-the-last-version-of-plex-media-server-for-the-readynas-os-4-ros4
