Printer communications
ReadyNas Ultra 2
Epson SX515W
Connected on one of the USB ports on the NAS and prints fine, a bit slow transferring the data compared to my previous setup, but works for printing, from any PC on my network.
But I get no information back from the printer, particularly the ink levels and warnings.
Even if I try to interrogate the printer manually (by clicking on the tray icon for status monitor) it recognises NAS-8A-E4-64\Stylus-SX510 but times out after about a minute with "communication error".
At the moment I now only know the cartridges are low/empty when the prints start to be patchy.
If I continue like this the print head will be damaged.
With the same printer plugged (USB) into my previous "server" (a spare XP box with multiple hard discs on my network) the communications were fine both ways from any PC on the network.
Why isn't it working with the NAS and how do I "fix" it ???
Thanks in anticipation.
