Pro - no new space after disk change - Case nr: 20382528
Hi.
I have ReadyNAS Pro (6350) with 3x500GB. X-RAID2 with single redundancy.
Last week I bought 2x1TB disks and found 3x1.5TB disks.
So I started my expansion like this:
0. Slot 1,2,3 was ocupied with 3x500GB (900GB of total space)
1. Added 2x1TB disks to slot 4 and 5 (expantion went well - 2.3TB of total space)
2. Then I exchanged one by one 500GB disks with 1.5TB disks. (still 2.3TB of total space)
I was expecting growth of total space.
I rebooted system twice and nothing happened to the total space change.
There is information in Volumes Menu that each of 5 disks has 927GB allocated.
So as I calculate it should be at least about 3.7TB (from x-raid calculator I get 4.5TB)
I still have 2.3TB.
Any ideas/help?
I tried to read forum for such cases but I couldn't associate any of the case/solution with my situation. If there is - please point me to it.
Thanks in advance.

5 disks, 3 1.5 TB and 2 1 TB drives.

You're showing as 2.25 TB, so I investigated further. It does not appear that md4 was created to make a new RAID using the additional 465.8 GB.
***** partition output for sda *****
Disk /dev/sda: 2930277168 sectors, 1.4 TiB
Logical sector size: 512 bytes
Disk identifier (GUID): 72773AE8-8385-4C96-8589-E53F65433ACC
Partition table holds up to 128 entries
First usable sector is 34, last usable sector is 2930277134
Partitions will be aligned on 8-sector boundaries
Total free space is 976756141 sectors (465.8 GiB)
The expansion log shows that it is trying to expand the volume also using the two disks that are not 1.5 TB.
It's strange -- your ReadyNAS should have md4 and that should take care of the additional space, and md3 should incorporate all 5 disks, but it only lists the last 2 disks you put in.
I would recommend calling into support and opening a case so we can fix this. - ReadySECUREApprenticeWhen you open a case with support, please put the case number in the subject and I can put my notes.
