problem with hardrive in my readynas duo

I upgrade my hardrive from 1TB to 2TB

but when I reboot the readynas duo, I am receiving this alert on my email

The X-RAID engine has failed to start.

To ensure data integrity, please refrain from using the NAS and contact Support immediately

but I can access the data on the hardrive.

NB: (because I have only 1 hardrive in the readynas I can only see 1Tb available ) ( I am supposed to see 2TB).

any hint ??

  • When upgrade from 1TB to 2TB, it's recommended to take out only one drive (1TB) and insert a new drive (2TB) then wait for it to resync. At this time, you still only see 1TB for space. When the resync is completed, take out the second 1TB drive then insert second new 2TB then wait for it to resync. When the resync is completed, you will see 2TB
  • thanks for your answer key5000 the problem is that I bought 2 hardrive of 2 Tb and one of them is diffective. SO meanwhile waiting for a replacement I am using only one hardrive.

What you have told me so far has been done. and now I am using only one hardrive of 2Tb.

But when I reboot the readynas duo I am having the message alert error on my email.
I do understand that I might not use the full 2TB hardrive if I don't have the second one to synchronize but I am worried about the message alert email.

    Can you help ?

    thanks again
