Problematic Video Streaming

Setup:
Ultra 4+
Yamaha RX-V3900 (native DLNA support)
SqueezeBox Duet
TiVo Premiere

Works:
Access to music, pictures, and videos when using PC's
Streaming music and pictures through to Yamaha and TiVo.
Streaming music to SqueezeBox

Doesn't work:
Streaming video to any device (except PC's)

So, I need help, please, showing videos on my TV's, either using the Yamaha or the TiVo. I have videos in avi as the primary format, but have also tried wmv. I'm guessing there's a setting issue in ReadyDLNA, but I didn't post there as I wasn't sure if that's the problem. My ReadyDLNA screen shows that /media is being streamed with All Content Types being selected. I do NOT have subfolders listed (e.g. /media/pictures and /media/videos), as I presume child folders are also covered.

I have tried using ffmpeg, winff, and devede to convert to mpg files to see if that matters and it doesn't. I know I don't understand video formats/codecs well enough to know where to look for a solution, so I appreciate any help folks can give. Thanks!

  • I have the same problem with my Sony KDLEX700 -- except that I can see SOME video files (and image files, and music files). The problem seems to have happened when I CHANGED/ADDED files after the first add. Decided to add more files, because it seemed to work, and then moved files to a different share, because it made sense. Then back on the tv, can't see but a fraction of the files I added. It's completely as if the TV can't see the files added/moved. What does it take to update the cache or whatever it might be that streams the folders/files list to the tv? I've seen enough mention of this online that I can't be the only one, and I don't understand why there isn't a clear answer.

I've tried restarting the ReadyNAS and tv. Disconnecting and reconnecting the ReadyNAS and the TV to the network. it's as if the TV just can't see the changed media. I even tried starting over with a new share and moving all files into it. But, the new share is now not seen at all. On my software (just bought the ReadyNAS last week, there is no media rescan button.

    Any help out there?
