problems with last modified time not updating
I have a large set of flac files on the NAS. When editing the tags the last modified time of the files is not getting updated (I've tried 2 programs, Media Monkey & Mp3tag).
If I copy a file to a local directory on the windows box the timestamp updates as expected.
If I clear the archive bit of the file on the NAS and edit it the timestamp WILL update (and the archive bit will get set). But the timestamp will not update again until I again clear the archive bit.
I also tried creating a text file on the NAS and editing it with notepad, changes saved there update the timestamp as expected. So presumably it has something to do with the way the flac library (which I'm sure both programs are using) touches files.
Is there some workaround for this? The timestamps not updating is making it impossible for me to schedule incremental backups of the library, and it's over 350GB of files.

- rangdaAspirantDoing some more testing, I have discovered that turning off oplocks makes some programs (mp3tag) update the timestamp correctly, but others (Media Monkey) still do not update timestamps.
I forgot to mention I'm running Vista Ultimate x64. - roger_richardsAspirantHave you found any solution to MediaMonkey not updating timestamps with ReadyNAS? This is a huge problem for me.

No and this is a HUGE problem for me too. My 'solution' has been to change my NAS backups to force a complete backup every month so I at least get them backed up. But it still leaves me no way to pick up modified files to sync down to my DJ laptop. - BoodlumsAspirantJust curious -- does the timestamp update if the file is in the root/top level of the share, as opposed to a subfolder?
(Wondering if it's similar to my metadata problem.) - roger_richardsAspirantBUMP
- shem1AspirantMight not be the solution your looking for, but I just touch the file or folders I'm changing.
ssh on to the readynas, cd to the correct folder and use the command touch.
This worked for me when I had done a bunch of changes and I was ready for the sonos to reindex, but is no good for selective changes because you don't want to have to keep a list of files you have altered to only touch them.
