The failure is so severe it causes the mounted USB mounted on a Mac to improperly force eject during the RN Backup Job...
I've never seen this issue posted here before (wrt to ReadyNAS), and it seems likely that it would have surfaced by now.
Have you tried copying the folder to the hard drive on the Mac? That would rule out a failing USB drive.

Copy from USB to Mac HD works.
Also tested RN pull backup job, from Mac HD to RN... worked without failure. Both this test and original post were completed using SMB connection.
Error in original post occurred on multiple attempts. One attempt showed multiple .QDF-backup files in the error log. Another attempt showed one .QDF-backup file in the error log. Looking at the destination share on the RN, some .QDF-backup files do successfully make it through the RN pull backup job. The failed .QDF-backup files appear on the destination share on the RN, but the file size is much smaller than on the source.

Can you try manually copying the QDF-backup files to the destination share?

Same USB force eject occurred on multiple RN pull backup jobs. Restarting the failed RN backup tends to complete the RN pull backup jobs.
As for your question: Successfully copied the folder and .QDF-backup files using both Finder and RN browser page.
Performed a First Aid check on the USB drive: no issues.
