Bad disks detected and blue LED lit
I have a quite old ReadyNAS Duo with two mirrored 1TB disks (Western Digital Caviar Green).
Yesterday after re-booting the NAS I got an error message saying "Bad Disks Detected" with the blue L...

The factory reset seems to have solved my problem with the disks and I can now access the NAS etc. I have also recreated the files. Now what remains is to see if the device will continue to be unstable and in need of os reinstall every now and then.
Thanks for all the help!

Now try downloading the log zip file from the web ui. disk_smart.log gives you information on disk health.
When looking at disk_smart.log it seems to have passed on an overall basis, but I am not at all sure how to interpret anything else, though :-(
For both disks it says:
=== START OF READ SMART DATA SECTION ===
SMART overall-health self-assessment test result: PASSED
When looking in partition.log though it's first line says;
"Disk /dev/hde doesn't contain a valid partition table"
To me that sounds bad?
I have attached a screenshot of what the text looks like in disc_smart.log regarding disc 1 and 2. Does that say you anything?

Those disks look healthy, though the Load Cycle Counts are huge.
It's normal for the dedicated parity disk to not have the partition table on it. Sparc systems such as your Duo v1 using X-RAID have a dedicated parity disk.
Probably need to look at other logs such as system.log, kernel.log, dmesg to look for clues as to which disk is bad.
You can send your logs zip file in if you like (see the Sending Logs link in my sig).

I don't think I can determine a bad disk from the logs. You may need to test the disks using WD Data LifeGuard Diagnostics if you still suspect a bad disk.
