Hello kevin_marchant,
I don't see him actively answering in the community lately but you can try sending PM to him.
Or you can also try contacting support center to have them check your NAS.

I wouldn't call this "solved" I have the same problem. It's clearly a firmware issue. I didn't have this problem before I updated the firmware to 6.4. But then again I didn't have it but for a day before I updated the firmware

Thanks, glad to know I'm not alone.
You're right - it isn't solved, but I've been PMing with Skywalker and we've done some initial tests, so from the point of view of this forum there is little other superficial advise (reset to factory defaults) that would help.
I have two 316's bought 18 months apart, which I reckon has resulted in different motherboard revisions - the newer one bought in Jan this year. The older one bought May 13 behaving itself.
I can reset the front-panel into operation by SSHing into the box after it has been up for a couple of minutes and issuing the following
echo 1 > /sys/bus/i2c/devices/*/reinitial
Sometimes it works instantaneously when you get the command prompt back, sometimes it takes a couple of minutes even after returning to the command prompt. It seems to be far more effective after a "restart" rather than just after power up. I've resorted to simply leaving the box on all the time.
Haven't heard from Skywalker in a couple of weeks now - he must be a busy man.
