Download 6.10.3 HERE and go to SYSTEM/SETTINGS/MANUAL INSTALL FIRMWARE page on your NAS and upload 6.10.3

thankyou, i didnt realise you could go back a level that way! From all the stuff i was reading it sounded like a Factory resert to downlevel Firmware! Cheers

Typically, going back a major (first decimal place) update is not supported but a secondary (second decimal place) is. 6.10.4 to 6.10.3 is fine, but not to 6.9.6. You can actually go back to almost anything, but you may have to factory default or even do a USB restore for it to work. Some of the updates to the ARM systems that change uboot may be an exception.
