First, If you configue the correct "Alert", the logs would send to you. You also can check the disk status in page "status"-"Health".
The second, bad disk will caused the system boot failed. System will check all disks when booting.
The last, It is no related with firmware 4.1.9. You can check the disk with disk vendor's tool. No firmware can caused fine disk to bad disk physical.
