I have been fighting with this issue today as well, and via the use of the Toggle_ReadyDLNA_Debug addon and with repeated scanning of all my media files, have determined that any of my AVCHD files (.MTS extension) will crash /usr/sbin/minidlna during its media scan. These files are unmodified from their original state as recorded by a Canon Vixia HF M40 camcorder.
