ReadyNas - Backup using Shadowprotect - compatible?
Hey Guys
I have a small site with 3x workstations. Their aging Seagate NAS is giving me trouble so I'm looking to replace it.
I like the feedback about the Netgear ReadyNAS and ReadyDATA devices and the onsite warranty which you don't get with Seagate or Buffalo etc.
I would like to go for the ReadyDATA for this site but the cost is significantly higher than the ReadyNAS and I'm not sure the business owner would buy in at that price. The site also already has licenses for the latest version of Shadowprotect 5.2 Desktop Edition. So I'm looking at getting a ReadyNAS 300 series and setting it up in Raid10.
My question is, is Shadowprotect compatible with ReadyNAS? Is there anything I should watch out for that might not work?
Kind Regards
Jimmy

- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredYou can backup to a ReadyNAS using ShadowProtect but you won't get the benefits of the ReadyRecover solution that you would get using the ReadyDATA.
For more info see e.g. http://www.readynas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=77703 - jimmyjamesjimmyAspirantHey mdgm
Many thanks for your reply. That's really helpful. So I can use ReadyNAS but I won't get the ReadyRecover solution for backup image management. I'm thinking that will be ok in this scenario, but will keep that in mind for larger networks. :) - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredWe have an overview video of ReadyRecover on YouTube:
This gives a great introduction to what ReadyRecover can do. I'd recommend taking a look at this.
Sent you a PM.
