[ReadyNAS 102] Device Communication Error
Hello. I am fairly new to NAS systems and recently purchased a ReadyNAS 102 2 bay to give my workplace more harddrive space, and to add RAID support. For 8 months now, everything has been going great...

Hi, and thanks!
The 1st box has firmware 6.4.2, and the 2nd box can't make it past the discovery step.
This is what I see when I hit Discover: http://i.imgur.com/xiXHIwS.png
This is the next thing I see when I hit Setup: http://i.imgur.com/PVAaL6f.png
This is the error I get when I try and http://i.imgur.com/0eOzHfg.png
So I can't even get to the admin area where I can setup email alerts, update firmware, etc...
Hope this helps some.

Can you try offline setup of the new box, update the firmware on the new box, verify the update is successful, then do a factory default (wipes all data, settings, everything) and try ReadyCLOUD setup again?

Sorry for the late reply, I am back to work now.
I will have to read up on how to setup offline this morning. I wasn't sure which numbers to plug in on that screen.
I will let you know soon if it works, thanks!
P.S. This is a brand new box + HDD.
EDIT: The offline mode is working. I am updating firmware now. Will keep you updated on the next steps.

Update: OFFLINE fixes the issue. "admin" & "password" to get access to upate firmware.
I have a scheduled replicate now and will let you know how it goes tomorrow. Fingers crossed, and thanks for all the suggestions.

I am having the same issue. I tried using offline set up, but it prompts for username and password, and I am not sure what username and password is it asking for. Can someone please help?

I am having the same problem. My system discovers my RN102, but as soon as the window pops up to enter the name of my RNAS and time zone, I get the same error. I'm stuck and very frustrated.
