I followed the procedure in here: https://community.netgear.com/t5/ReadyNAS-Beta-Release/Downgrading-from-6-4-0-to-6-2-4-with-a-Pro-Pioneer/m-p/1006812#M7142

Can you give 6.5.0 Beta a try? We have made some changes in Beta 1. Furthermore, if you are using the anti-virus service Beta 1 has some improvements with further ones to come in Beta 2.

With respect, if this beta software (which is beta for one very good reason) causes me problems is someone from Netgear going to call around and fix my NAS straight away or will this be yet another 5 month wait?
As I keep repeating I have AV turned off............

Often developers will directly diagnose/resolve beta issues (instead of support channels). And in this case downgrading to 6.4.x is simple (no reset required).
As you know, I didn't see any lockups with USB backup (though testing was limited), and performance was 7-8 MB/s for NTFS using the front USB-2 port.

I won't be trying anything I'm afraid. 6.2.5 worked perfectly. I see no reason to change. If Netgear would like to use me as a 'real-life' beta tester then all they need to do is send me 4x 4tb drives to put in my spare RN104 machine. I'll quite happily load it up with a copy of my 'real-life' data, sychronise changes daily and run the snapshots etc. I can compare performance against 6.2.5.
