ReadyNAS 102 USB Drive
Hello, I am new to all this and I have searched in vain for an answer.
I am running the latest firmware (6.1.5) and connected a USB disk to a rear USB port. I can see and browse the disk using the ReadyNAS interface but when I try with Win 7 it prompts for a username and password.
I have been using this disk connected to an Iomega network drive via USB and have no issues with access in Win 7.
I wanted to connect this USB drive to the ReadyNAS to simplify transferring data but have had to resort to reconnecting it to the Iomega (which I am retiring) to transfer the data.
Any ideas why I am being prompted by Win 7 only when the drive is connected to the ReadyNAS 102?
TIA

- vandermerweMasterFirst upgrade to the newest beta firmware, there are some usb device fixes on it although I don't think this is your issue:

Is the usb device setup as a share - you'd need to set permissions on the readynas then to allow your windows user to access the disk.
Setup a user on the readynas that is identical to the windows user then give access to the usb share using the GUI. Also, after you have done this, you may need to use the "Reset permissions" tickbox which is in the share properties - Thanks for the reply.
It is "shared" as are all of the folders on the NAS, however,I have not set up any specific user accounts as the files are only pictures and music which I want available to all users.
I am currently copying several Gb's of pictures and music from the USB drive by connecting it to the Iomega. When it is finished I shall try what you suggest. - OK, have now upgraded to Beta Firmware and selected "Allow Anonymous Access" for the USB drive and I can now use Explorer without username/password prompt.
Thank you for your help.
