ReadyNAS 104 - Connection Lost - Ping fails
Hi
Netgear ReadyNAS 104
Firmware 6.1.1-T1826
I think the NAS has just crashed. I had been testing our new NAS with multiple OS X users and all of a sudden, on one machine (OS X 10.6.8 ) the Finder showed a spinning beachball, and on another machine (OS X 10.8.4) during copying a large file from the NAS, the Finder sat there for a while and then reported that the copying operation failed.
Since then, I cannot access the web front end via my browser and ping from the command line results in 'Request timeout'.
I'm worried to just force off the NAS's power incase of any data corruption. What's the recommended procedure to get it back up and running?
Thanks
EDIT: Changed thread tile to [SOLVED]
EDIT2: Removed [SOLVED] tag on title as although I now know how to reboot the NAS the problem of it crashing in the first place remains!

- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredYou could try a graceful shutdown using the power button as described here: http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/23007/~/how-do-i-power-on-and-shut-down-my-readynas-104%3F
Then try turning it on again.
If that doesn't fix it, perhaps try powering off the NAS and then doing an OS Re-install: http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/22891/~/how-do-i-access-the-boot-menu-on-my-readynas-104-or-314%3F - blacky1TutorThanks for your prompt help (again) mdgm :)
After following the first kb link and forced the power off, it's now back up and running.
I just wanted to check first before doing anything silly ;)

Regards - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredI should also note that there is now a newer beta than T1826.
- blacky1TutorYep. Thanks. I've just updated to it.
- blacky1TutorThe problem as described in my opening post has happened again with the latest beta (T1832).
I was writing a ~600MB postscript file from Acrobat in OS X 10.8.4 directly to the NAS. It got to about 40% complete and then the connection to the NAS dropped.
Trying to access the FrontView in my web browser fails and trying to ping the NAS again timesout$ ping 192.168.17.92
PING 192.168.17.92 (192.168.17.92): 56 data bytes
Request timeout for icmp_seq 0
Request timeout for icmp_seq 1
Request timeout for icmp_seq 2
Request timeout for icmp_seq 3
Is it just me having this issue or are there other users out there experiencing the same problems?
