ReadyNAS 104 drive upgrade did not expand volume

To bring this to a close, re-enabling XRAID and allowing it to resync fixed my problem, I now have all the space that I expected to have with 4 x 4TB, e.g. ~11TB
Did you try rebooting the NAS?
I just noticed that X-RAID is no longer highlighted on the system > volume screen. I'm not sure how that happened, it was definitely selected the last time I upgraded a 3TB disk to 4TB (because the automatic volume expansion worked that time).
Anyway I am going to do a full backup and then enable X-RAID and see if that fixes this issue

Making sure you have a backup before expansion is the best approach.

Do you know if is there is any log that I can review that would show when X-RAID was disabled? I was going through the various logs and only found this in initrd.log that shows it was originally configured in X-RAID mode:
