Readynas 104 drops out when copying to it
I have a readynas 104 configured with four 4tb drives in raid 5. I've managed to copy about 6tb onto the device without issue but now whenever I go to copy something onto the box, lets say a single 4...
I don't know what support will advise you. Neither do you if you don't call them.

I suspect that they will frequently advise a factory default if they have no other solution - though painful, it often resolves issues. But if enough people report a problem, then their escalations team is more likely to get involved, and properly diagnose it.
I am not seeing clear evidence of that on this thread, I think you are jumping to a conclusion.
