Readynas 104 drops out when copying to it
I have a readynas 104 configured with four 4tb drives in raid 5. I've managed to copy about 6tb onto the device without issue but now whenever I go to copy something onto the box, lets say a single 4...

Even read is a problem. It hangs as well.
To my opinion the problem is the poor handling of 4x4TB disks.
I believe it's the filesystem daemons. I'm having this exact issue on an Ultra 6 with 6x2TB disks. The problem are the btrfs-transaction processes, who lock up the i/o for a few milliseconds.
